A weekly business review you can actually use

Give yourself a regular point in the week to look across the business. The outcome should be a short list of decisions and owned actions, not another meeting without a result.

Bring current information

Update open quotes, live jobs, invoices and actions before the review. Work from one current set of records. If something is unknown, identify who will find out rather than treating an estimate as confirmed.

Review exceptions first

Start with missed dates, unanswered customer questions, work without an owner and invoices requiring a check. Ask what needs a decision, who can make it and when the information is needed.

Look ahead

Review the next week’s commitments alongside available people, materials and information. Avoid adding new promises without considering the existing workload. Record dependencies so a delayed decision does not disappear from view.

Finish with three priorities

Choose the most useful actions for the coming week. Give each one an owner, due date and clear completion outcome. Start next week’s meeting by checking those actions before adding more.

Weekly review agenda

Week beginning:
Attendees:

1. Previous actions — completed, blocked or carried forward?
2. Quotes — which decisions and follow-ups are due?
3. Live jobs — which deadlines, changes or blockers need attention?
4. Invoices — which balances need checking or following up?
5. Documents — what is missing or awaiting review?
6. Capacity — what can we realistically commit to next week?

Keep the agenda proportional to the size of your business. If you work alone, use it as a weekly desk review.
