From a blank form to a useful record

  1. Start with the actual work. Choose the relevant template, check the site conditions and involve the people doing the task.
  2. Complete and review it. Replace the prompts, confirm the controls and ask a competent person to review matters outside your expertise.
  3. Brief the team and keep it current. Link the issued document in your Evidence register and put follow-up work in Actions.

What these documents cover

These are working frameworks and record sheets. The fire plan must align with the premises fire risk assessment and applicable fire strategy. The fire action tracker and check log support that assessment; they do not replace it. Technical assessments, safety certification and ongoing professional advice are not included in the template pack.

Requirements differ across England and Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland. Adapt the documents to the relevant jurisdiction, activity and premises. HSE guidance covers Great Britain; use HSENI guidance for Northern Ireland.
